The Grande Traversée of the Alps
I have a personal connection with the mountains. Ever since I was a kid I have been hiking in the Alps. This has made me love the mountain and its environment. I go three to four times a year to the mountain, either to climb, ski, hike or do alpinism. This is why I have chosen to choose this long hike.
Why am I doing the challenge? This hike is a challenge I have decided to take on for all the people diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My strength will raise awareness for their tiredness and fatigue caused by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The hike will be tough physically and mentally, a testimony for those weakened by the disease.

The Grande Traversée des Alpes, also known as the GTA, is a legendary long-distance hike that spans approximately 440 kilometers from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean. This iconic trek offers a breathtaking journey through the heart of the French Alps. It has stunning and dangerous natural landscapes, scenic mountain villages and challenging roads across the mountains.
The itinerary typically consists of multiple stages, with each stage covering a specific portion of the trail. I will be hiking for around 7 hours each day. This should let me finish the hike within 25 days! I will traverse a variety of terrain, from rugged mountain passes to tranquil alpine meadows, and experience the beauty of iconic mountains such as Mont Blanc.

My preparation for the GTA will be crucial due to the challenging nature of the hike. I will focus on physical conditioning, endurance training, and acquiring the necessary gear for long-distance hiking. This includes durable footwear, proper layering for varying weather conditions, as well as essential camping and cooking equipment for overnight stays. I will most probably be hiking in a tent and cook myself. I will not be staying in refuges to increase the difficulty of this challenge.
