Who am I? My name is Frederic Laarman. I am 16 years old. I have an English mother and French father. I am the eldest of three; I have one younger brother and one younger sister. They are 9 and 7.

I go to school at Winchester College in England. I was sent to school in the UK in 2021. In school, I get the opportunity to enjoy many hobbies. These include football which I have been playing for 10 years now. I was introduced to rugby in England and I am now a passionate rugby player. In the summer I do athletics, I run both long distances and short.

But most of all, I enjoy mountaineering the most. This includes skiing, alpinism, hiking and climbing. Ever since I was a child I have been doing those things leading to me loving the environment.

I enjoy music as well, I have been playing piano for 12 years and love Chopin and Beethoven. The subjects I enjoy the most are Latin, Greek and History. During the summer of 2025 I will be taking my GCSE’s. And in a few years hope to study Classics at university.

Why am I doing this fund raiser and the challenge along with it? My cousin Aliénor is one of the people I know personally that is affected by this painful disease. My whole family and I are very affected by this. Therefore I decided to take action and raise money for a cure to disease.

Why am I doing the challenge? This hike is a challenge I have decided to take on for all the people diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. My strength will raise awareness for their tiredness and fatigue caused by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. The hike will be tough physically and mentally, a testimony for those weakened by the disease.

I have a personal connection with the mountains. Ever since I was a kid I have been hiking in the Alps. This has made me love the mountain and its environment. I go three to four times a year to the mountain, either to climb, ski, hike or do alpinism. This is why I have chosen to choose this long hike.
